چکیده

Fractal image compression is based on the rather poorly motivated assumption that “natural” images exhibit significant affine self-similarity. The accuracy of this assumption is evaluated by a comparison between the statistics of natural images and those of a multiresolution stochastic model designed to generate images exhibiting affine self-similarity as assumed by fractal coding techniques. These comparisons suggest that self-affinity does not represent a particularly accurate characterisation of image statistics.

Electricity Procurement for Large Consumers with Second Order Stochastic Dominance Constraints

This paper presents a decision making approach for mid-term scheduling of large industrial consumers based on the recently introduced class of Stochastic Dominance (SD)- constrained stochastic programming. In this study, the electricity price in the pool as well as the rate of availability (unavailability) of the generating unit (forced outage rate) is considered as uncertain parameters. Th...

Pseudoframe multiresolution structure on abelian locally compact groups

‎Let $G$ be a locally compact abelian group‎. ‎The concept of a generalized multiresolution structure (GMS) in $L^2(G)$ is discussed which is a generalization of GMS in $L^2(mathbb{R})$‎. ‎Basically a GMS in $L^2(G)$ consists of an increasing sequence of closed subspaces of $L^2(G)$ and a pseudoframe of translation type at each level‎. ‎Also‎, ‎the construction of affine frames for $L^2(G)$ bas...

A Real Time Adaptive Multiresolution Adaptive Wiener Filter Based On Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System And Fuzzy evaluation

In this paper, a real-time denoising filter based on modelling of stable hybrid models is presented. Thehybrid models are composed of the shearlet filter and the adaptive Wiener filter in different forms. The optimization of various models is accomplished by the genetic algorithm. Next, regarding thesignificant relationship between Optimal models and input images, changing the structure of Optim...

Wavelets and differential operators: from fractals to Marr’s primal sketch

Invariance is an attractive principle for specifying image processing algorithms. In this presentation, we promote affine invariance—more precisely, invariance with respect to translation, scaling and rotation. As starting point, we identify the corresponding class of invariant 2D operators: these are combinations of the (fractional) Laplacian and the complex gradient (or Wirtinger operator). W...

Face Recognition using an Affine Sparse Coding approach

Sparse coding is an unsupervised method which learns a set of over-complete bases to represent data such as image and video. Sparse coding has increasing attraction for image classification applications in recent years. But in the cases where we have some similar images from different classes, such as face recognition applications, different images may be classified into the same class, and hen...
